Edit: Hey, realy the most needed updates for this editor are more/better sprites. If YOU would like to have your own custom sprite added to this (Terrain, Unit, Property, w/e), I can add it if you pm me a nice, organized sprite sheet for it. Just one more reason why Delta's map maker is better than those "other guys" (j/k other guys ;-p)
Hey all, just thought I'd share my latest creation with you. I was tired of waiting for a more functional DoR map program, so I went ahead and made my own. A couple screen shots: ![]() ![]() Editor is available for download here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CS025TXY System Requirements: * Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista * DirectX 8 or later * DirectX 8 compatible graphics card with at least 32MB of video memory * Pentium or equivalent processor * DirectX 8 compatible sound card * 128 MB of memory or greater (noted only in official Game Maker help file documentation) * 800x600 (or greater) screen resolution with 16-bit or 32-bit colors For instructions press F1 QUOTE Space - Access terrain/unit select Left mouse - Set Terrain/Unit, Selct Terrain/Unit Right Mouse - Change Unit/Building properties Escape - Access System Menu, Exit Help Mouse wheel - quick change player ownership Center mouse - mark unit/property objective (!) Shortcuts- Backspace - Clear map S - Save current map L - Load map M - Toggle Sound (Mute on/off) R - Refresh Map B - Choose a different default background O - Change default ownership value N - Change map name V - Toggle unit visibility Alt + PrtScn - Take Screenshot, must paste into Paint manually How to use: Press Spacebar to bring up selection screen. Click on object/terrain you want to create. Screen will automatically switch back to map. Place selected terrain and objects wherever you want them. Adjust player alignment, CO, AI, and HP status for properties and units by right clicking. Version notes: V.81 -All terrain tiles represented -All units represented -All Player colors represented + Green -one save slot V.82 -Fixed cursor depth problem -Implemented symbols for CO, HP, and Unit AI -Implemented right click menus for easier unit and property adjustments V.83b -Unlimited save slots -Click and drag to "Paint" terrain -Minor bug fixes V.84 -Added shoals and meteors (can't believe I forgot them -.-;;) -Mouse Wheel function for quick player a changes -Added (!) objective marker when center clicking on units or properties. -Minor visual fixes -Minor interface fixes V.86beta - Main Menu implemented (use Esc key), no need to remember shortcut keys anymore. - Added "Default" controls, now you can set a default player ownership, AI, or HP level, and newly created units and/or buildings will have those properties. - When starting a new map, you now have access to a "Fill" option - Also when starting a new map, you may designate a map size (your map will have a sea-plasma border around an area of the requested size) - Upgraded/changed some terrain sprites (most notably properties and sea tiles) - Added a "Mute" function, press "M" to disable sounds. - The map will now remember it's own name for saving purposes. - Added properly functioning save file extension - Added -some- cliffs to sea tiles. - Program no longer continues to run when out of focus, should lower memory usage. -Right click on property bug found and fixed, thanks Kaid! -Riverbridge sprite off-center bug fixed, thank Snifit! V.87b -Implement status bar - shows stats including building/units per player, current x/y coordinates, map name, etc. -Added terrain - "void", for use with backgrounds -Added Backgrounds - Basic, Sea, Lava, Space, Sky -Finally fixed bug with fast moving cursor deleting terrain without replacing it -Disabled sprites that "auto-refresh". Sprites can now be refreshed manually by using the "R" key. -Significantly reduced memory usage -Various interface upgrades 087b updates -minor update, save files from 087 are still compatible -rearranged stats menu for easier "at-a-glance" comparisons -mouse wheel now changes global default player -added a "Re-Faction" command under special options in the Esc menu -can also access select screen by clicking (or system menu by right-clicking) on the status sidebar -easier access to teal and lavender factions 0.88beta -Terrain Styles added: (Ruin, Snow, Desert) -Terrain change tools -Custom Backgrounds Known Bugs ??? Possibly coming soon: (v.90) Saved map list *Better quality terrain sprites *Fix Road/River/Plasma bug (auto fixes on refresh, but looks strange in the meantime) *Adjustable Map Size Seperate properties and plasma from basic terrain tiles (for functional purposes) Implement remaining cliff and shoal tile combinations (unlikely) Custom Units ????? *Somewhat implemented When taking screenshots, you still have to do it the old fashioned way with paint to cut down your image to the proper size. Also, if anyone wants to rip the 16x16 DoR terrain sprites ***especially those for snow and desert***, I'd be happy to throw them in there, since the current ones aren't the highest quality. Sprites are set for manual refresh to save on system memory for sower machines. Simply press the "R" key to refresh. Please note that I have no intention of ever making this a full version 1.0 for use with any actual map importing programs out there. All this does is make pretty pictures. The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable might be the reason why.

oops, didn't put that in there... heh -.-;; Just hit escape and it'll exit out of the helpfile, but be careful, because esc also shuts down the program when you're mapmaking. Remember to save often :-j

meh, that's no biggie, I'll add it to the list. When I have a few more changes (or more ambition) I'll let loose a v86. Just know that any maps saved in a previous version will not load in a newer version.

v.86beta is up, haven't extensively tested it yet, but have added a few highly useful functions like Map Fill and adjustable Player Ownership and AI defaults. You learn these are very convenient things in the process of making a campaign using said editor.

I will test it. Mr. Bear say that he hates bugs. But he will try anyway. Thanks, i was looking for an editor.
Edit: I found something, when you try to right-click the HQ the program has an error. This post has been edited by Kaid: Jun 6 2008, 03:06:19 PM -------------------- I am not a girl!!!

It doesn't seem to work for me, when I open the link to the download. It just opens this page with any 4 random pictures of girls and says "Find your dates in [place where you live]!"

the screen should look something like this:
![]() type the code circled in red into the text box (it's a basically to prove you're a human and not a bot) If it doesn't look like that, you may not have Flash Player plugin installed on your webbrowser, or some other browser compatibility issue with the Megaupload site. also, edited the v.86 link, fixed the right click on properties bug. -------------------- ![]() AW:DoR FC 494 082 063 750 Pattern and Shadow - A FASCINTAING DoR campaign written, directed, and produced by yours truly! Thank you sir (or ma'am, or evil alien overlord, whatever applies), just a quick little fix and the third incarnation of the beta is up and linked to! I must say, it's so much less stressful just fixing the bugs as opposed to having to find them all on your own.

May I ask a question?
Do I have to redownload the download for the bug to be fixed up, because the bug is still there for me. Also, another bug. When you click a terrain and run it over the map really quickly, black squares pop up. Thank you very much. |

yeah, theres not currently a convenient little patcher or anything, you hafta go for the full new download. The quick moving bug is weird, I already put it sown in the premanent bugs section, I'm not sure what to do about it because the delete action and create action are lliterally right next to each other in lines of code. That one I haven't been able to fix since the first release :-( not sure what I can do about it really. (Edit: technically, I could get rid of it, but that would mean disabling the click and drag painting feature, which I feel is more more beneficial than this minor drawback)

it's a feature unique to my editor, alas, there's no real way to employ it ingame... it's one of the various options after you right click a unit (COUnit? y/n, AI? Atk/Def/Stop/All-out, HP? (1-10))

There's been a fairly major overhaul of the map editor, just take a look at the screenshots to see for yourself! As always, comments, suggestions, and especially bug reports welcome.
Also, if someone could get me a rip of the DoR Desert and Snow terrain sprites, I'd be very grateful -------------------- ![]() AW:DoR FC 494 082 063 750 Pattern and Shadow - A FASCINTAING DoR campaign written, directed, and produced by yours truly! I must try this... EDIT: Found a bug. Whenever I clear properties on a Sky background, it leaves a little piece of Plains terrain behind that I have to clean up.
